JEFFERSON COUNTY, IN. (THECOUNT) — Richard Casey, of Laconia, Indiana, has been identified as the victim in a Wednesday fatal vehicle crash in Jefferson County.
“Rick” Casey, 42, was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a big-rig in Hanover Wednesday morning.
According to reports, Casey was operating a Chevy pickup truck on East Lagrange Road near East Kuntz Road in Hanover, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes around 9 q.m. Wednesday. The vehicle then came into contact with a Freightliner semi-truck hauling a trailer.
The semi driver, identified as 74-year-old Herschel Downing, of Waddy, Kentucky, was not injured in the wreck.
Casey was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
