ETOWAH COUNTY, AL. (THECOUNT) — Erin Wiemann Mims, of Gadsden, Alabama, has been identified as the victim in a Monday night fatal motorcycle crash in Etowah County.
Wiemann Mims, 29, was killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash near Glencoe Monday night.
According to reports, 51-year-old Brian Maloy of Altoona, was operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle on Interstate 59 near Mile Marker 186, when for unknown reasons, the bike crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 7:11 p.m. Monday. The bike then came into contact with a grouping of trees.
Maloy was transported to an area hospital in unknown condition.
Wiemann Mims, a passenger on the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
