MADISON, TN. (THECOUNT) — Stephen Slater, 74, and his stepson, John D. Norman, 49, died Saturday following an apparent murder-suicide at a residence on Graceland Drive in Madison, Tennessee, according to Metro Nashville Police.
Police said Slater shot Norman inside the home, located in the 2000 block of Graceland Drive, before turning the gun on himself. Both men resided at the residence.
Slater’s wife witnessed the deadly incident and called 911. First responders arrived at the home and found Slater deceased.
Norman was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Authorities have not released information regarding what led to the shooting or identified a possible motive. No other victims were reported in the initial information released by police.
Metro Nashville Police are investigating the deaths and the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Additional information was not immediately available.
Madison is a community in Davidson County located northeast of downtown Nashville and within the Nashville metropolitan area of Middle Tennessee.
