COVINGTON, GA. (THECOUNT) — An Amber Alert has been canceled for one-year-old Jaquari Bennett after she was reportedly killed after she was taken from her home in Covington, Georgia, on Saturday night. Her mother and grandmother were shot during the incident. The mother did not survive.
Police say Darian Javaris Bennett, 38, followed the girl’s mother home and shot her dead before abducting little Jaquari.
Two other children, aged 11 and 12, were at home at the time of the shooting and called 911.
Jaquari’s grandmother was flown to hospital in critical condition.
Bennett may be traveling in a black 2007 Honda Accord, with Georgia plate RGK4146.
Police have not confirmed the relationship between Darian Javaris Bennett and the mother, or the children.
Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.
