LOS ANGELES, CA. (THECOUNT) — The son of actor William Hurt, posted today that his father has died. He was 71.
Will Hurt posted the following on social media:
“It is with great sadness that the Hurt family mourns the passing of William Hurt, beloved father and Oscar winning actor, on March 13, 2022, one week before his 72nd birthday. He died peacefully, among family, of natural causes. The family requests privacy at this time.”
Hurt studied at the Juilliard School and began acting on stage in the 1970s. Hurt made his film debut in 1980 as a troubled scientist in Ken Russell’s science-fiction feature Altered States, for which he received a Golden Globe nomination for New Star of the Year.
