YORK COUNTY, VA. (THECOUNT) — Kaila Montel Hawkins, of Hampton, Virginia, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Friday vehicle crash in York County.
Hawkins, 23, was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Williamsburg Friday evening.
According to reports, Hawkins was operating a Chrysler Pacifica on VA-199 near Lodge Road in Williamsburg, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes Friday around 5 p.m. The vehicle then came into head-on contact with a Chevrolet Malibu.
Hawkins was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.
A male passenger traveling with Hawkins and the male driver of the Malibu were both transported to an area hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
