SEDGWICK COUNTY, KS. (THECOUNT) — Anastasia Rooney, of Derby, Kansas, has been identified as the victim in a Monday fatal vehicle crash in Sedgwick County.
Rooney, 26, was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Wichita on Monday afternoon.
According to reports, Rooney was operating a passenger vehicle on West 63rd Street South, South Seneca in Wichita, when the vehicle was struck head-on by a pickup truck, operated by a 58-year-old man from Haysville around 2:30 p.m. Monday.
Investigators say, the pickup truck rear-ended a vehicle and fled the scene. A short time later, the driver of the pickup lost control and struck Rooney’s vehicle head-on.
Rooney was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
The driver of the pickup was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
