JEFFERSON COUNTY, KY. (THECOUNT) — Kaitlyn Renee Higgins, of Louisville, Kentucky, has been identified as the suspect arrested Tuesday night in the murder of her 10-year-old son in Jefferson County.
Higgins, 28, was arrested after the body of her young son was found in the trunk of her vehicle in Louisville Tuesday night.
According to reports, police responded to a call of a woman with a gun in the 1200 block of Algonquin Parkway in Louisville around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, police found blood evidence on the porch area of the home. At some point, police found Higgins’ son wrapped in a blanket in the truck of her vehicle. The boy was deceased of gunshot injuries.
Higgins later admitted to police that she had fatally shot the boy and placed his body in the car trunk after attempting to cut his tongue out.
Police arrested Higgins at the scene and charged her with murder and tampering with physical evidence.
