JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL. (THECOUNT) — Iderrika Patryce Callens, of Pleasant Grove, Alabama, has been identified as the pregnant woman killed in a Monday morning vehicle crash in Jefferson County.
Callens, aka, Iderrika Patryce Finley, 24, died in a single-vehicle crash near Birmingham Monday morning.
According to reports, Callens was operating an SUV on Interstate 59/20 near Avenue I in Birmingham, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 9:50 a.m. Monday. The vehicle then rolled over.
Callens, who was full-term, had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was transported to an area hospital where the baby was delivered via emergency cesarean section. She was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.
The condition of the baby was not immediately made available.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
