YORK COUNTY, SC. (THECOUNT) — Robert Shook, the man shot along with 5 others by former NFL player Phillip Adams, died Saturday at the hospital, according to the York County Coroner.

Adams, 33, killed five others including two children and a prominent doctor and his wife in South Carolina on Wednesday. Adams was later found dead Thursday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Shook, of Cherryville, was shot multiple times while working at a home on Marshall Road just before 5 p.m. His work partner, 38-year-old James Lewis, was also killed in the shooting, officials say.

According to sources, Adams’ parents live near the doctor’s home in Rock Hill, and that he had been treated by the doctor. The source said Phillips killed himself after midnight with a .45 caliber weapon, according to News12.

Dr. Robert Lesslie, his wife, Barbara, 9-year-old Adah Lesslie, 5-year-old Noah Lesslie and James Lewis, have been identified as the five people fatally shot Wednesday at a home in York County, South Carolina.

Robert Lesslie, 70, a prominent Rock Hill doctor and author, his 69-year-old wife, Barbara, and 38-year-old Lewis, from Gaston County, were all shot dead along with the Lesslie’s two grandchildren on Wednesday at a Rock Hill Residence. A sixth victim was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The mass shooting occurred around 5 p.m. Wednesday at a home, located at, 4456 Marshall Rd in Rock Hill.

Adams was later located dead at a nearby home.

Following the discovery of the shooting, YCSO said they were seeking a young black male wearing a black hoodie and camo pants.

Dr. Lesslie was a prominent doctor in Rock Hill who published several books. Lesslie and his wife were married for at least 35 years, according to WLBT.

Dr. Lesslie started the Riverview Medical Center.

Adams, 33, played as a defensive back for multiple teams including the 49ers and the Atlanta Falcons after starring at South Carolina State. He also suffered multiple injuries in the NFL, including concussions and a broken left ankle.

Investigators have not released a motive or said whether the alleged shooter knew the victims.
