MONROE COUNTY, IN. (THECOUNT) — Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Deputy James Driver has been identified as the victim in a Monday vehicle crash in Monroe County, Indiana.

Driver, 38, was on-duty, when he was involved in a fatal vehicle crash while responding to another crash in Van Buren Township on Monday.

Driver was on-duty responding to a vehicle-crash with lights and sirens, when his cruiser was involved in separate crash around 4 p.m. near IN-45 and West Eller Road in Bloomington.

Driver was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.

Further details of the wreck were not provided by officials.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
