COCONINO COUNTY, AZ. (THECOUNT) — Missing Walton, Kentucky, man, John Pennington, has been identified as the body found Wednesday at Grand Canyon National Park.
The body of Pennington, 40, was located around 450 feet below the South Kaibab Trailhead in Coconino County on Wednesday after going missing February 23.
According to reports, Pennington was previously reported missing at Grand Canyon National Park while riding a motorcycle inside the park.
Searchers found the body on Wednesday approximately 465 feet below the South Kaibab Trailhead, officials said in a statement.
Evidence found with the body indicated it was Pennington, who was believed to have entered the park on or about Feb. 23, a statement said.
The National Park Service and the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office were investigating the incident, the statement said.
A cause of death was not provided.
