NASSAU COUNTY, NY. (THECOUNT) — Jomani “JoJo” Wright, a Uniondale High School sophomore basketball star, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Wednesday vehicle crash in Nassau County.
Wright, 15, died following a two-vehicle crash near Uniondale Wednesday afternoon.
According to reports, an elderly man was operating a Toyota on Maple Avenue near Front Street in Uniondale, when the vehicle came into contact with a Honda CRV, occupied by four teenage boys. The Honda then came into contact with a utility pole around 2 p.m. Wednesday.
The condition of the 87-year-old Toyota driver was not provided.
Wright was transferred to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.
The other teens, who were not identified, were treated at area hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
