CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, IL. (THECOUNT) — Samuel Johnson, of Gibson City, Illinois, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Thursday evening vehicle crash in Champaign County.
Johnson, 26, was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Dewey Thursday night.
According to reports, Johnson was operating a vehicle on County Rd 3000 N near County Rd 1100 E in East Bend Township, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes around 5:15 p.m. Thursday. The vehicle then came into head-on contact with another vehicle.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
The other driver was transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries.
