FRESNO COUNTY, CA. (THECOUNT) — Nine people are dead, including seven children, following a head-on crash Friday night in Fresno County.

In all, nine people died in a fiery two-vehicle crash near Coalinga Friday night.

According to CHP, a Dodge was traveling south in the opposing lane of two-lane Highway 33 near Sutter Avenue in Coalinga, when it approached a Ford that was traveling north. As the collision was about to occur, the Dodge swerved onto the shoulder around 8 p.m. Friday. The Dodge then fishtailed and collided with the front of the Ford, leading to the Ford bursting into flames.

Investigators say, eight people were traveling inside the Ford that was only equipped with five seats.

The 28-year-old male Dodge driver was also killed in the crash.

The names of those involved have not been released.
