BENTON COUNTY, MN. (THECOUNT) — Eric Wochnick, of Sartell, Minnesota, has been identified as the pedestrian fatally struck by a vehicle Tuesday in Benton County.
Wochnick, 33, was killed after exiting a disabled vehicle near Rice Tuesday morning.
According to reports, Wochnick was operating a vehicle on US-10 near Burton Place Northwest in Rice, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. The vehicle then came into contact with a grouping of trees. At some point, Wochnick exited the disabled vehicle and was struck by a passing vehicle. The involved vehicle was then rear-ended by another vehicle.
The drivers, Jessica Lyn Clairmont, 35 and of Little Falls, and Brittney Marie Tiemann, 22 and of Royalton, were uninjured in the collision.
Wochnick was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.
The cause of the deadly incident remains under investigation.
