MONROE COUNTY, FL. (THECOUNT) — William “Rowdy” Harrell, a NASCAR pit crew member for driver, Alex Bowman, was killed along with his new bride in a horror honeymoon crash in Monroe County, Florida Tuesday.
Harrell, 30, and his 24-year-old wife, Blakely, who were married Saturday, were both killed in a head-on vehicle crash in Florida Tuesday night. Both were residents of North Carolina.
Harrell, who was a star linebacker for the Crimson Tide, won three national championships from 2009-12. After college, he went to work 8 seasons as a tire carrier for No. 88 Bowman.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
