SALT LAKE CITY COUNTY, UT. (THECOUNT) — Former MLB Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers Double-A and UCLA pitcher, Tyson Colby Brummett, has been identified as one of four victims killed after a small plane he was piloting crashed in the Wasatch Mountains in Salt Lake City County, Utah, Friday morning.
Brummett, 35, of Salt Lake City, Alex Blackhurst Ruegner, 35, of Riverton, Elaine W. Blackhurst, 60, and Douglas Robinson Blackhurst, 62, also of Riverton, all died in a plane crash Friday morning near American Fork Canyon in Utah.
Brummett was Piloting a Cessna 172 when it crashed in the Box Elder Peak area above Granite Flat Campground shortly before 8 a.m. on Friday.
According to witnesses, the aircraft spiraled downward for unknown reasons.
All four occupants of the plane died instantly on impact.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
