SANGAMON COUNTY, IL. (THECOUNT) — Chaz Tribbet, of Springfield, Illinois, has been identified as the victim in a Monday morning vehicle crash involving a suspected DUI driver in Sangamon County.
Tribbet, 27, was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Springfield early Monday morning.
According to reports, Tribbet was traveling in a vehicle as a passenger in the 2700 block of Fox Bridge Road in Springfield, when the vehicle wrecked around 12:30 a.m. Monday.
The crash also sent several others occupants of the vehicle to area hospitals with unknown injuries.
Tribbet was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, who has not been named by officials, was taken into custody and charged with Driving Under the Influence.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation
