HENDERSON COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — James Van Stephenson, of Malakoff, Texas, has been identified as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash in Henderson County Thursday night.
Stephenson, 46 was killed in a motorcycle crash involving a vehicle near Athens on Thursday night.
According to reports, Stephenson was operating a motorcycle on County Road 1500 near Loop 7, when the vehicle lost control and crashed while attempting to pass another vehicle around 7:20 p.m. Thursday.
Stephenson was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
DPS reports, Stephenson wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
