KNOX COUNTY, IL. (THECOUNT) — Shamere M. Kimble, of Galesburg, Illinois, has been identified as the suspect in a fatal Saturday morning stabbing in Knox County.
Shamyra K Barber, of Mcdonough, Georgia, has been identified as the victim fatally stabbed on Saturday.
According to the Galesburg Police Department, Kimble, 28, is accused of stabbing Barber to death early Saturday. She was arrested on murder and aggravated battery charges.
Officials say, officers responded to Kimble’s residence located at, 318 Maple Ave in Galesburg, on reports of a stabbing around 2:15 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived, investigators learned Barber has been transported by private vehicle to an area hospital.
Barber was later pronounced dead at the hospital of stab wounds.

The investigation into the fatal incident is ongoing.
Kimble remains jailed on a no-bond order.
