BROOKHAVEN, MS. (THECOUNT) — Jakerio Miller, a Wesson High School varsity football player, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Friday single-vehicle crash near Brookhaven.
Miller, 16, was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Friday morning, authorities said.
According to reports, Miller was operating a Mercury Grand Marquis on Jackson-Liberty Drive, about a mile from Highway 550, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 1:30 a.m. Friday. The vehicle then made contact with a substantial tree.
Miller was pronounced at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
Passengers in the vehicle, Anterio Miller, 17, and Dekerion Jackson, 16. were transported to an area hospital in serious condition.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
