Mark Latunski Found Not Competent To Stand Trial In Grisly MI Murder Of Kevin Bacon

BENNINGTON TOWNSHIP, MI. (THECOUNT) — A forensic evaluation of Mark Latunski, the man accused in the grisly murder of Michigan man, Kevin Bacon, not competent to stand trial.

Shiawassee County Public Defender Douglas Corwin announced Monday, the result of the competency evaluation found Latunski not competent to stand trial at this time.

Court documents revealed that police arrived to the home of Latunski to perform a welfare check to see if the missing Swartz Creek man was at the residence.

Police entered the residence and found Bacon, 25, hanging naked from the ceiling while suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Latunski informed police he murdered Bacon by stabbing him with a knife in the back one time then slitting his throat.

Latunski said he wrapped rope around Bacon’s ankles and hung him from the rafters on the ceiling, reports WILX.

He also admitted to using the knife to cut off his testicles and eating them later.

Latunski, 50, was charged with one count of open murder and one count of mutilation of a human body. He was arrested that Saturday after police found Bacon’s body in the basement.

Bacon was last seen just after 5 p.m. Christmas Eve. Family said Bacon was on his way to meet a stranger he met on a dating app and failed returned home.

According to Michigan State Police, Bacon was located dead early on Saturday at a home in Bennington Township in Shiawassee County after going on a blind date.

The 50-year-old from Bennington Township was jailed on murder charges, according to MSP.

Bacon’s parents located his vehicle in the Family Dollar parking lot in Swartz Creek. They said the clothes he was wearing when he left were inside the car, as well as his shoes, cell phone, credit cards and cash.

Michigan State Police and local authorities are investigating.
