BROWN TOWNSHIP, OH (THECOUNT) — Samuel Stephen Buckland, of Howard, OH, has been identified as the victim in a two-vehicle crash Sunday evening in Delaware County.
Buckland, 47, was killed in a crash in Sunbury, Ohio on Sunday night.
According to officials, Buckland was operating a Mercedes on State Route 521 near CR-35 in Brown Township around 6 p.m. Sunday, when 49-year-old Mary K. Hollar rear-ended Buckland while operating a Chrysler SUV.
It was determined Hollar failed to yield at a stop sign.
Buckland, formerly of Largo, Florida, Radcliff, KY and Fredericktown, OH, was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was wearing a seatbelt, reports MyFox.
Hollar was rushed to Wexner Medical Center by a Survival Flight helicopter, per troopers. Hollar’s passengers, which included a 9-year-old, a 10-year-old, and an 11-year-old were taken by ambulance to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Troopers said all children were secured properly, but Hollar was not wearing a seatbelt.
Alcohol and drugs were not suspected factors.
The crash remains under investigation.
