GRAND PRAIRIE, TX. (THECOUNT) — Dewayne Brian Bowman, of London, Kentucky, has been identified as the man fatally shot by Grand Prairie, Texas, police while wielding a knife at an extended-stay hotel early Wednesday morning.

Bowman, 30, who was residing at the Budget Suites, in Grand Prairie, was fatally shot by police while displaying a knife and refusing deputy commands Wednesday morning.

According to police, officers arrived to the Budget Suites, located at, 1050 N Hwy 360 in Grand Prairie, after receiving multiple reports of a man with a knife assaulting at least one person and chasing a security guard around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Officials say, Bowman approached officers “in a threatening manner,” when he was fatally shot by police.

Bowman was pronounced dead at the scene of gunshot injuries.

Further details about the shooting were not immediately available, reports DallasNews.

Bowman’s last known address was at the Kenwood Health and Rehabilitation in Richmond, Kentucky.

The shooting remains under investigation and the officers involved were placed on administrative leave as is standard procedure.
