ABILENE, TX. (THECOUNT) — Two male Abilene High School students suffered stab wounds Thursday morning on-campus. The suspect is reportedly a fellow classmate who had recently been suspended.

Abilene Police say the School Resource Officer notified 911 that a double-stabbing had occurred around 8 a.m. Thursday morning.

Abilene High School is located at North 6th Street in Abilene, TX.

“It’s a terrible tragedy. We don’t know the extent of the injuries,” said Abilene ISD Communications Director Lance Fleming.

Both male victims were transported to the hospital in unknown condition.

The suspect, who fled the scene, was arrested at 8:36 a.m.

The stabbing happened right outside the west side of the cafeteria, reports KTXS.

Police said they will have an increased presence on campus for the rest of the day and possibly more.
