GRAND RAPIDS, MI. (THECOUNT) — A child is seriously injured in Grand Rapids, Michigan, after being struck by a hit-and-run driver Thursday morning.
Grand Rapids Police say, the child was on the way to school, when the collision occurred in Grand Rapids. The driver then fled the scene leaving the child seriously injured in the street.

The incident happened the intersection of Cherry Street Southeast & Madison Avenue Southeast in Grand Rapids, Ave around 7:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
The child was transported Code 3 to an area hospital and is expected to survive.
Police are searching for the driver involved in the crash believed to be operating a black Ford Escape that fled the scene north on Madison.
