NEWTON, IA. (THECOUNT) — Newton, Iowa man, Jeremy R. Williams, has been identified as the victim fatally struck by a semi-tractor while riding on a bicycle Monday in Newton.
Williams, 43, was killed after he was struck on a bike by a semi-trailer early Monday morning.
Williams was pronounced dead at the scene near the 8000 block of Highway 6 East between Kellogg and Newton around 4:30 a.m. Monday.
JCSO deputies, Kellogg Fire and EMS and the Iowa State Patrol responded to the accident. The driver of the semi stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Halferty said the bicyclist was not wearing any reflective gear or helmet, reports NewtonDailyNews.
The Iowa State Patrol is continuing its investigation into the accident.
