WESTERLY, RI. (THECOUNT) — Julie Lynn Cardinal, an employee of the Babcock Village apartments assisted living center, has been identified as one of the victims in a deadly triple-shooting Thursday morning.

The 47-year-old mother of five was killed and two others injured in a shooting in Rhode Island on Thursday. The shooter, a 66-year-old resident of the facility, took his own life, police said.

The unidentified resident opened fire Thursday morning, shooting three people, Cardinal fatally, at the assisted living center located at 122 Cross St in Westerly, RI.

One of Cardinal’s co-workers, and a resident were injured. Their names were not released.

The shooter, who lived at the facility, was found dead inside a residence.

A gun was recovered at the scene.

Reports of gunfire at the Babcock Village apartments prompted Westerly public schools, Westerly Hospital and some nearby business into lockdown as a precaution, reported WCVB.
