ONO, PA. (THECOUNT) — After the 2018 replacing of “The Farmer’s Wife” restaurant, the Ono Family Restaurant at 10609 Allentown Blvd, has been gutted by fire overnight, according to Saturday morning reports.
Farmer’s Wife closed in 2017 over public health concerns that dogged the eatery long before its shuttering.
On Friday night, fire crews were called to the Ono Family Restaurant, in East Hanover Township, Friday night, on reports of a structure fire.
When firefighters arrived, around 11 p.m., flames were seen engulfing the business.
Dispatchers say large propane tanks are located near the restaurant, but there’s no word on if they played a role in the fire, reports WGAL.
Crews were on the scene until 4 a.m., Saturday.
No serious injuries are reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
The building appears to be a total loss.
The Farmer’s Wife closed permanently in April 2017, a little more than four months after the restaurant failed a food safety inspection and was temporarily shut down by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. When Ismael purchased the building along with Giovanni Scotto Apollonia in December, they inherited the conditions left behind by the previous owner, reported IDNews.
