ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD. (THECOUNT) — Anne Arundel County firefighter Brent Hahn has been identified as the victim killed Sunday in a single-vehicle crash in Carroll County, Maryland, according to reports.
Hahn, 24, was killed in a pickup truck crash confirmed the Anne Arundel County Fire Department on Monday morning.
According to the State police in Westminster, Hahn was operating a pickup truck around 4:20 a.m. Sunday on Route 27 near Sullivan Road, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway. The pickup then made contact with a tree before coming to a rest.
Hahn was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
Hahn, who was a three-year veteran of the department, was assigned to Station 31 in Brooklyn, Maryland.
He was also a volunteer firefighter with the Manchester Volunteer Fire Department.
“It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that the Anne Arundel County Fire Department announces the passing of Firefighter II Brent Hahn of Company 31 “D” Shift. Firefighter Hahn was killed early this morning in a motor vehicle collision while off duty,” Lt. Michael Mayo said.
“Chief Trisha Wolford and Assistant Chief Lawrence Schultz have been to station 31 and are in communication with the members at station 31. This is a difficult time for the Department and the family of FF Hahn. We will continue to provide updates as we receive additional information.”
“Brent was a major asset to our department and community, a dedicated volunteer who always put forth the most effort,” the Manchester Volunteer Fire Department posted on its Facebook page, reports WBAL.
Roads were wet at the time of the crash from the early morning rain.
The accident remains under investigation.
