ORLANDO, FL. (THECOUNT) — Aquirira Lane, a student at University of Central Florida, struck and killed a male pedestrian who was crossing a road near the school.

The unidentified victims was on-foot in the area of the school when he was fatally struck by “Kira” Lane, on Sunday night.

Lt. Kim Montes said in a news release that Aquirira Lane was driving when the pedestrian walked into the path of the Jeep. The front of the vehicle struck the man, who was taken to a hospital where he died, reports HeraldStandard on Monday morning.

Officials say the victim was not using the crosswalk at the intersection when he was fatally struck.

The school is located at, 4000 Central Florida Blvd in Orlando, FL.

The crash remains under investigation.
