CHP Releases Photo After Woman In Car Impaled By Metal Rod On Sacramento Highway 99 ‘Fell From Big Rig’ (Graphic)

SACRAMENTO, CA. (THECOUNT) — A woman was impaled by a metal bar while seated as a passenger traveling on Highway 99 near Sacramento over the weekend, according to reports.

The CHP released a gruesome photo showing the woman still seated in a Chevrolet Impala with what appeared to be a metal rod stuck through her leg. The rod traveled through the vehicle’s engine block before striking her in the lower leg fibula area.

The photo appears at the bottom of this post, however, you are warned, although blurred out, some may find it disturbing to view.

The California Highway Patrol says an unidentified big rig was traveling north on Highway 99 Saturday when the bar fell off the vehicle and onto the roadway striking the victim.

The CHP says the bar bounced and went through a Chevrolet Impala driving behind the truck. Officials say the bar went through the car’s engine compartment and into the front passenger area, where it struck the woman in the right leg, reports KTLA on Monday morning.

Officials say the driver stopped and dialed 911 but the driver of the big rig did not stop.

The woman was transported to an area hospital in unknown condition.

Officials released no further information on the freak incident.
