NJ Construction Worker Killed Several Injured Friday In Woodbridge Township Quincy Court ‘Electrocuted’

WOODBRIDGE TOWNSHIP, NJ. (THECOUNT) — A construction worker was killed and several others injured in a workplace accident in Woodbridge Township, NJ on Friday morning.

The unnamed worker was killed as a result of an electrocution occurring at the Quincy Court construction site before 8 a.m. Friday morning, according to reports.

Police say, siding company workers were erecting scaffolding at the Quincy Court site when a wind gust took down a 40-foot pole.

Two of the workers attempted to secure the pole just as it struck a high tension wire, causing them to be electrocuted.

The two workers were transported to area hospitals where one was pronounced dead. The other remains in very critical condition, according to 6ABC.

A third worker sustained very serious burns and was taken to a hospital in Perth Amboy.

Area residents said the incident was loud and shook the neighborhood.

“I heard a loud noise, ‘pow,'” one witness said in Spanish. “I looked out the window and saw the scaffolding fell, and the people standing on it fell. I saw that people were hurt. Two were in very bad condition. The other started rending aid like he was having a heart attack.”

Work has been halted, and OSHA is conducting an investigation, as is procedure.
