GROTON, CT. (THECOUNT) — Marine Science Magnet High School and West Side Middle School have issued a 2-hour delay amid a standoff situation in Groton Friday morning, according to reports.
An armed woman is in a standoff with tactical units in the city of Groton, according to police. The situation has caused a shelter in place for residents in the Morse Avenue area west of Shepherd Street to Cutler Street and Benham Road in Groton on Friday.
According to WFSB, around midnight a person called police and said a woman violated a protective order and was inside their home on Morse Avenue. Officers located a 49-year-old woman in the home, de-escalated the situation, and set up a perimeter, WFSB.
State Police have a negotiator on scene to try and end the standoff peacefully.
No weapons have been fired, said city of Groton Police Chief Michael Spellman.
