CHESAPEAKE, VA. (THECOUNT) — Three people suffered stab wounds during what officials say was an “altercation” that occurred Monday in from of the Chesapeake General District Court, according to reports.

According to the Chesapeake Police Department, one of the victims was apparently on their way into the court house when they were attacked and stabbed. Two other people were also stabbed after allegedly attempting to break up the scuffle.

When other people in front of the courthouse tried to break it up, two people suffered stabbed wounds from a “cutting instrument,” reported WAVY.

All three people were transported from the scene to area hospitals. Their injuries were not life-threatening, officials said Monday morning.

A suspect is in custody and is expected to be charged.
