FOXBOROUGH, MA. (THECOUNT) — Following reports Patriots owner Robert Kraft “became enraged” upon finding out Antonio Brown had sent harassing text messages to one of his accusers, we are now learning it was Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick who made the decision to give the baller the boot.
Kraft was reportedly out of town on a business trip when he received the news that Brown was again swerling in the news cycle this time for allegedly sending a former female acquaintance threatening text messages.
The news reportedly caused Kraft to “become enraged” on Friday. That prompted a code red call between Kraft and Belichick who then decided jointly to officially release Brown.
The release came just 11 days after the Patriots signed the controversial star receiver, according to records.
“Patriots owner Robert Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick jointly determined Friday that wide receiver Antonio Brown had overstayed his welcome, reports TotalProSports on Saturday.
The drama Brown was dealing with before – happened while he wasn’t a current member of the Patriots – thus the team was “willing to deal with it.” When Brown messed up again, that was the proverbial final straw.
So where will the wandering Brown go now? TotalProSports says that several teams have major concerns about his off-the-field antics so he may find himself on the outside looking in for the remainder of the 2019 season. From $30 million guaranteed to just over $150K made in 13 days because of his behavior.
