MECHANICSBURG, PA. (THECOUNT) — Samuel Miller of Enola, PA, has been identified as the pedestrian fatally struck while attempting to cross Route-15 in Mechanicsburg on Tuesday night.
“Sam” Miller, 27, was struck and killed around 9 p.m. Tuesday while on-foot near the IY Hostel in Mechanicsburg, in Cumberland County.
The area is on the Cumberland and York counties line, reports WGAL.
PennDOT initially said the victim was an “adolescent.”
Carroll Township police said Miller was trying to cross the highway when he was fatally hit, according to reports.
Miller was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of multiple blunt force trauma injuries consistent with a vehicle strike.
Police said the driver remained on the scene and fully cooperated with arriving officials.
It is unclear if anyone was cited at the scene.
