Norwegian ‘Hell Cruise’ Destine For Bahamas Ends Up Docking In New Orleans After Diverted By Dorian ‘Poor Staff Communication’ Grouse Exhausted Passengers

NEW ORLEANS, LA. (THECOUNT) — Bourbon Street was not on the itinerary for thousands of Norwegian Cruise Line passengers who set sail from Port Canaveral, Florida last week destine for the Bahamas.

But turquoise waters were not in the future for the vessel after it was forced to hightail it out of Caribbean waters and full steam ahead for New Orleans, Louisiana.

The ocean travelers, who were on a four-day excursion to the Bahamas, were forced to double back turning their “long weekend” journey into a 6-day hell cruise and it was all compliments of poor staff communication and of course the wrath of Hurricane Dorian.

With seemingly scant staff passenger updates and days on the open sea, frustrated passengers took to social media to vent over the ordeal.

“It’s incompetent how they handled it,” said passenger Kathy Good. “They didn’t handle it very maturely, common sense wise. They just were protecting their own and they got very rude,” reported WDSU.

Long lines of taxis and charters busses pulled into the port Wednesday morning to ferry exhausted passengers from the ship’s terminal to the airport.

Passenger Good said fellow passengers would be flown to Tampa and then provided a bus transport to Port Canaveral. The boat departed Florida on Thursday.

Good says she’s instead opting to rent a car and make the 10 to 12 hour drive. Let’s hope she had a good hot meal before making that decision! God Speed.

Norwegian Cruise Lines has yet to comment.

New Orleans is a Louisiana city on the Mississippi River, near the Gulf of Mexico. Nicknamed the “Big Easy,” it’s known for its round-the-clock nightlife, vibrant live-music scene and spicy, singular cuisine reflecting its history as a melting pot of French, African and American cultures. Embodying its festive spirit is Mardi Gras, the late-winter carnival famed for raucous costumed parades and street parties – wikipedia.
