CANTON, OH. (THECOUNT) — Nathaniel M. Stokes has been identified as the victim in a fatal Canton shooting early Tuesday morning.
Stokes, 21, was found by police suffering from at least one gunshot wound after 1:30 a.m. near Ninth Street NE & Rowland Avenue, in Canton, OH.
The city’s ShotSpotter gunfire alert system drew officers about 1:40 a.m. Tuesday to Ninth Street NE at Rowland Avenue, Garren said, noting that several shots had been fired. Officers arrived to find Stokes lying near a vehicle in the 1200 block of Nelson Place NE with a gunshot wound to his head, reports CantonRep.
Stokes was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with possible information on the deadly incident should contact police at 911 immediately.
