PERRY TOWNSHIP, OH. (THECOUNT) — Richard J. Rodeheaver, of Willowick, Ohio, has been identified as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash in an apparent hit-and-run in Perry Township on Sunday.

“Richie” Rodeheaver, 34, was killed in a crash that occurred after 9:30 p.m. Sunday near the 2800 North Ridge Road Sheetz, in Perry, Ohio, according to OHP.

OHP stated that a 71-year-old Russell Township man in a 2014 Chevy Captiva heading on North Ridge Road and attempting to turn left into the gas station failed to yield the right of way to Rodeheaver’s Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The Captiva collided Rodeheaver’s motorcycle, causing him to be ejected from the bike. He landed in the westbound lanes of North Ridge Road.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the violent collision.

Rodeheaver was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

An unidentified man traveling westbound on North Ridge Road in a white Chevy Cruz struck the motorcyclist. The unidentified man and his vehicle were gone before officers arrived on scene, reports NEWS-Harold.
