DEERFIELD, MA. (THECOUNT) — Deerfield Police Department officers, Timothy Boland and Nick Limoges, have been identified as the victims struck by an alleged drugged driver on Saturday morning.
Boland and Limoges were attempting to conduct a traffic stop on a suspected DUI driver when they were struck around 2 a.m. Saturday morning on Greenfield Road, in Deerfield, MA, according to officials.
Deerfield police said the officers were located on the roadside with their cruiser emergency lights on when they were struck by a vehicle.
Boland and Limoges were transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, reports WCVB.
Before they were struck, the officers had just arrested a driver on multiple charges, including operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicating liquor and operating a motor vehicle with a child in the vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor, officials said.
The driver was taken into custody and charged with operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs.
His name has not been released.
No suspect information was provided by officials.
