MONROE, GA. (THECOUNT) — Joseph Stevens Shelton Jr, of Social Circle, has been identified as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash near Monroe, Georgia on Friday night.
Shelton, 23, was killed while operating a motorcycle just north of Monroe around 10 p.m. Friday night.
State troopers say, Shelton was traveling on a Harley Davidson XL1200S motorcycle on state Route 11 near Mountain Creek Church Road Northwest, when was struck by a southbound vehicle, causing him to be ejected from the bike.
The motorcycle was then struck twice more by oncoming vehicles, reports WaltonTribune on Saturday morning.
Sgt. Cory Seymour of the Georgia State Patrol said Shelton was driving “too fast to stop,” at the intersection of Highway 11.
Seymour said alcohol and drugs were not suspected to be contributing factors, and no other injuries were reported.
The crash remains under investigation.
