SPOKANE VALLEY, WA. (THECOUNT) — There are reports of a shots fired on East Montgomery Ave. Police have asked people to avoid the area.

There are reports of shots fired and a possible standoff in Spokane Valley on 9922 E Montgomery Ave, reports KYVB.

Reports first came in at about 9:15 a.m.

According to witness accounts, the situation may have started at at technology company called Johnson Controls.

Crime scene tape is at a business park on Montgomery Ave.

Police have asked people to avoid the area and have blocked roads. They are redirecting traffic.

An officer told KREM’s Amanda Roley police are encouraging people in the area to shelter in place.

The active location is a strip mall and a law enforcement from Spokane and Spokane Valley have responded.

Eastbound and westbound Montgomery is closed.
