Jeffrey Epstein Told Prison Guards ‘Someone Tried To Kill Me’ Says Report

NEW YORK, NY. (THECOUNT) — Jeffrey Epstein told prison guards and fellow inmates that he believed someone had tried to kill him weeks before his death, DailyMail is reporting Saturday.

The “insider,” who had seen the billionaire on several occasions during his incarceration at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, also claims that the 66-year-old “seemed to be in good spirits.”

‘There was no indication that he might try to take his own life,’ the source told DailyMail.

‘From what I saw, he was finally starting to adjust to prison. I think he was comforted by the rigidity of his new life’.

The world was left stunned early Saturday after news that Epstein was found hanging in his prison cell shortly before 7am.

The 66-year-old was rushed to nearby New York Presbyterian-Lower Manhattan hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Following the apparent suicide death of the billionaire, conspiracy theories about how he “really died” or who had him “murdered” are already taking root on social media Saturday morning.

Epstein was found dead by suicide in his Manhattan jail early Saturday morning, three law enforcement officials confirmed to ABC News.

Michael Dignan put it this way on Twitter Saturday morning:

@Diggers71 vi Twitter: The winner of best conspiracy theory of 2019 has just been announced… Jeffrey Epstein kills himself in prison”

Ava Kennedy said on Twitter about the billionaire’s untimely death:

@remaxava via Twitter: “Let the conspiracy theories begin! Too many well known people hung with pervert Epstein. Did he really kill himself?”

While Marino Marte offered his take:

@DramaticV1 via Twitter: “If there was ever a time to believe a conspiracy theory now is the time”

Epstein was being held without bail at the Metropolitan Correctional Center awaiting trial on charges of conspiracy and sex trafficking. He pleaded not guilty to the charges, and a judge said he wouldn’t face trial before June 2020.

Epstein’s accused of arranging to have sex with girls as young as age 14 in the early 2000s at his residences in Manhattan and Florida.

In related news, the 66-year-old was also hospitalized in July after he was found unresponsive in what appeared to be a possible suicide attempt, reports ABC7NY.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Alison Moe urged a June trial date, saying there is “a public interest in bringing this case to trial as swiftly as possible.” But Epstein’s lawyer, Martin Weinberg, said the case is far from “ordinary,” adding the defense team won’t be ready before Labor Day 2020.

His charges carry the potential for up to 45 years in prison.
