KABUL, AFGHANISTAN. (THECOUNT) — Sgt. Maj. James G. “Ryan” Sartor, of Teague, Texas, has been identified as the Fort Carson Special Forces soldier killed in action in Afghanistan Saturday.
The DoD sent out a statement Sunday morning confirming Sartor, 40, was killed “as a result of injuries sustained from enemy small arms fire during combat operations,” officials said.
Sartor was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group. We are working to get more information from Fort Carson, reports KKTV.
The incident that led to the sergeant major’s death is under investigation.
