ABBEVILLE, LA. (THECOUNT) — Police are searching for a suspect after a female Abbeville, Louisiana police officer was shot twice Wednesday night.
The unidentified officer was conducting a traffic stop in the area of 600 North Gertrude Street, in Abbeville, LA, when the suspect open fire striking the officer twice.
The officer was airlifted to the hospital and is in stable condition, according to the mayor.
K9 units and Helicopters are surrounding the area as the manhunt continues.
Residents in the area are being asked to stay inside.
Multiple agencies are assisting in the search and investigation, reports KATC.
