MANCHESTER, NH. (THECOUNT) — Steve Marshall of Manchester, NH, has been identified as the suspect shot and killed Wednesday in an ongoing standoff at Quality Inn near the Manchester airport.
Marshall, 51, reportedly fired on police and federal drug agents Wednesday night at the lodge located on John E Devine Drive, in Manchester, NH.
Police returned fire and Marshall was struck by an unidentified Manchester police officer about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the rear of the Quality Inn.
Marshall was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.
As of Thursday morning, two other suspects remain barricaded in a hotel room and have fired multiple shots at police.
The outstanding suspects fired multiple shots at police throughout the night and early morning, according to the department. A SWAT team has attempted to flush out the suspects with chemical agents, but they have refused to exit the room.
“Manchester police officers were, for lack of a better term, attacked last night,” Manchester police Chief Carlo Capano said during an early morning news conference, according to the Manchester Union Leader. “It’s something we can’t tolerate; it’s something we won’t tolerate.”
No police officers were injured in the shooting.
A portion of the ordeal was caught on hotel security cameras, reports BangorDailyNews.
Guests were safely evacuated shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
