SAN DIEGO, CA. (THECOUNT) — Glenn Bengtsson, from Carlsbad, and Raul Valerio of Laguna Hills have been identified as the two men killed in a weekend mid-air paragliding collision in San Diego, the medical examiner’s office announced Sunday.
Bengtsson, 43, and Valerio, 61, died in a paragliding collision that occurred above Torrey Pines, near the Torrey Pines Gliderport, on Torrey Pines Scenic Dr, La Jolla, CA.
Officials identified the two men killed in a mid-air paragliding collision Saturday in an accident happened around 2:30 p.m. near the park’s gliderport.
Lifeguards said the two men — both experienced at the sport — somehow collided, tangling up their parachutes before falling about 75 feet and crashing into the cliffside, reports Fox5SanDiego.
San Diego Fire-Rescue had to use a helicopter to recover the bodies because of their position on the cliff, officials said.
