JOELTON, TN. (THECOUNT) — Beth Plant, of Ashland City, TN, has been identified as the woman shot and killed by a sheriff’s deputy overnight in Cheatham County, TN.
Plant, 51, was being transported by paramedics to the hospital early Saturday morning for unknown reasons, when she became combative and produced a knife from her backpack, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
The ambulance driver pulled over on New Hope Road & Highway 41A, in Joelton, Cheatham County, TN, and called for assistance.
Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded, the woman brandished the knife on a deputy who opened fire, the TBI reports.
Plant was eventually transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
